John Rick is an Associate Professor of Anthropological Sciences at Stanford University and also serves as Curator of Anthropology at the Iris & B. Gerald Cantor Center for the Visual Arts, Stanford University. He earned his Ph.D. from Michigan in 1978. His areas of interest include Prehistoric archaeology and anthropology of band-level hunter-gatherers, stone tool studies, analytical methodology, and animal domestication. Research areas include Latin America and the Southwestern U.S. His current research is on the site of Chavin de Huantar in Peru. More information about his archaeological work can be found at
