A term for the participants of an rpg who are representing characters in the fictional universe by deciding their actions. In most cases, players do not control the plot of the game or circumstances in the rest of the universe-- those aspects of the game are usually determined by the GM. Thus, the players, through the tool of their PCs, are the interactors who are exploring the universe.
