Ciao! I'm a sophomore who is probably going to be switching from STS (Information and Society concentration) to Communications (Communication Technologies focus). Who knows though, I have a talent for finding reasons to switch majors.

I will be doing my project on one of the tastiest Asian treats on the planet--BOBA. A.K.A. pearl tea, bubble tea, milk tea with tapioca balls, whatever you want to call it. I was raised in the Bay Area and therefore was obviously around a lot of Asians, but I wasn't really exposed to boba until I moved to the suburbs of Detroit in 8th grade. I used to think boba was just a yummy thing to drink (if the place you are buying it from can actually make it right), but now I really see how it is a yummy thing. As in "a gathering place" as Prof. Shanks mentioned. Boba is essentially a social activitiy, and I'm excited to do more research, get people's opinions, and probably drink some boba as my project progresses.
