Now, think about the meaning of "Locks of Love". What does it imply? Well, clearly, a bonding experience is involved in the wig wearing process. As mentioned, wearing wigs transforms alopecia patients into more positive, confident, social individuals. Through this experience, patients begin to develop an intimiate, loving relationship, if you will, with their respective wigs. The wearer's contribution to the relationship are feelings such as gratitute, trust, and care.

• Gratitute for "being there" for them where ever the wig wearer goes.

• Trusting that their wigs help them achieve certain goals.

• Caring for their wigs through combing, styling, safe keeping.

On the other end, the wig provides many of the things a significant other would provide. Wigs, by virtue of being beautiful, make the wig wearer look and feel beautiful, much like a boyfriend would if he were to compliment his girlfriend. Moreover, as explained above, the wig provides the patient with a sense of newness, excitement, and hope for the future through physical, emotional/psyhological and social restoration.
